What documents do you need to rent a car in Dubai?
The documents SqutRixo asks tourists and UAE residents to provide before renting a luxury car in Dubai.
The documents you need depend on whether you are visiting the UAE or live here. Having them ready is the quickest way to move from enquiry to handover.
Visiting the UAE
- Passport
- Visa
- Driving licence from your home country
- International Driving Permit (IDP), where applicable
Whether an IDP is needed depends on the country that issued your licence. If you are unsure, send SqutRixo a message with your licence country before you travel and it will be confirmed for you.
Living in the UAE

Requirements for every driver
Every driver must be at least 25 years old. The current fleet requires at least one year of driving experience, and some cars may require more; the requirement is listed on each car's page. Additional drivers can be added for a fee and must provide the same documents.
